Structure

Our organization formed as a non-profit society in 2018 and qualified as a Community Living BC Host Agency in that same year.  As a society, we are governed by a Board of Directors, currently made up of representatives from 5 of the families.  The Board meets every 2 months and deals with the business of the organization.  It has 2 standing committees – the Finance Committee and the Human Resources Committee.

On opposite months to Board meetings we hold Family Meetings.  These meetings include participants and their family members, along with the organization’s program director.  It is at these meetings that we discuss programming, special activities, policy and practice, opportunities, and issues.  Some topics go to the Board for further discussion while others are acted on right away. At most Family Meetings there is a report out by a participant on behalf of all VCC participants about recent activities, new ideas, or anything else they wish to bring to the attention of the group.

VCC currently has a full-time program director, a full-time assistant program director, and 4 plus full- and part- time staff.  The program director with support from the assistant program director manages the work of planning, scheduling, partnering, and implementing activities based on each person’s person-centred plan and the guidance from Family Meetings.  All staff, including the program director, provide direct support to participants in order to build relationships, get to know them and to be able to change supports and programming as each individual grows and their interests change.
