About Us

VCC is family-governed group that supports 11 individuals and their families. The organization has a full-time Program Director and ~ 5 full time support workers who, together with the participants, plan activities, employment opportunities and inclusive programming within the community. Working, volunteering, hiking, working out, cooking, and participating in learning activities are amongst the many activities our participants enjoy.  The group does have a "home location", but individuals spend most of their time in the community and use the location as a gathering place at the beginning and end of their day.

The purposes of the Society are:

  1. to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to individually and collectively direct their own services and supports;

  2. to promote and support collective family- and user- governed services;

  3. to assist and support individuals and their families in the creation of person-centred plans and services;

  4. to offer coordination, support brokerage, and services to individuals and their families in their pursuit of quality lives;

  5. to support individuals and their families to monitor and evaluate their supports and services;

  6. to provide support and services to assist individuals and their families to live lives in which they are included in their community, including in the areas of housing, employment, education and life-long learning, recreation and leisure, and friendship and network development;

  7. to build on the innovation of the family governance model by continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of our participants and families, promoting full and inclusive lives.
